One More for the Road
One More For The Road, written by Shane Lynch of Boyzone, for the Homeless of Ireland. An Irish solution to an Irish problem. Music For Ireland Charity
Music For Ireland is our official charity name and we make music for to support the homeless charities of Ireland.
This first official charity launch song was written by Shane Lynch, Boyzone, and was kindly donated to the Homeless of Ireland, to raise funds for those who find themselves needing support from all of us. It's an Irish solution to an Irish Problem. The reason the song came to be donated, is because of a young lady who touched the heart of Maureen O Halloran with her story. Read on:
A few months ago, a friend of mine Called Maria Sheridan, came home from touring the world with a famous group, where she worked as a nanny. Her life was fast and energetic, as you can imagine being on tour all the time.
In 2011 Maria Divorced and lost her home. She ended up couch hopping, and survived on her savings. Maria tried in vain to find work, her savings ran out, she had no one to turn to. She let her daughter go to a family membe , & Maria moved into a shelter for the homeless.
Maria had hit a rock bottom scenario and considered taking her life. Thankfully she did not do it, She had One More Sleep, You could say, One for the road. For some strange reason, out of the blue, on 19th January 2012 came help, in the form of Crosscare. Maria was helped up off her knees, and her life was turned around. Maria is now writing a book about her experiences. I have decided to help her give something back to the charities that helped her, Crosscare, Focus Ireland and SVP, to name but a few.
I have come up with the idea of getting all of you celebs into studio, and recording a song, to raise funds for those in need here in Ireland. I have some wonderful friends in the industry who have come on board to produce it all free of charge. A few good friends who work in all areas of Media, who are going to sing on the CD. Will you join us!! and lend us your voice to show the homeless that we do care what becomes of them?
If singing a song can help feed them, and get them back on their feet, it's a small price to pay, isn't it?
Thanks to Shane Lynch of Boyzone, who has written and donated a song for us called 'One More For the Road', and Davan Nagle who has come on board to produce the CD, & Maire Ni Chuinneagain/ Gerald Kean and all the artists who have come on board to re record this song and help get it to number one, lets do this x
Please help us to do this for Maria and the homeles,s through care organisations across Ireland, who are helping the homeless and the near homeless to get their lives back on track.
Recording will take place over the next two months, and hopefully come May or June, we will be released and start raising funds for the people in need, especially the homeless. Lets take care of our own, as they say Charity Begins At Home.
Shane Lynch, Boyzone, has kindly offered us a song written by him which we will be using. Called 'One for the Road'. I am awating this to arrive in drop box, as soon as it arrives, it will be sent to all of you.
Thanks to Gerald Kean who has kindly offered to do all the legal work involved in setting this up, Davan Nagle from Pop Star studios who is looking after all the Production in studio & Maire Ní Chuinneagáin, Production Manager/Floor Manager for the event.

The adventure continues......following in the footsteps of his idol!!
In September 2011, Darragh travelled to London to meet the family of the late Matt Monro at a reception to launch a biography of Monro called "The Singers Singer".
Praised as one of the greatest singers of his time by Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro played to sell out audiences all over the world in the 1960's and 1970's before his untimely death at the age of 54 in 1985. The songs of Matt Monro have stood the test of time and some are easily recognisable such as "Born Free" and "Portrait of my Love".
Having been so impressed by Matt Monro and his music, Darragh is currently working on a Tribute album of Monro songs, and he is also developing a show that will tell of Matt Monro's life and musical journey.
